First step is to make a card board template to fit the nosecone and chassis. Cut the template larger than is needed all round. Make some witness marks, then cut holes for the upper control arm brackets and the "ears" of the L-assembly. These holes can be larger than necessary to allow the template to be shifted as necessary. Fold the cardboard down over the top rail, trim and tape in place. It may be necessary to make some cut-outs around the various brackets and bits. Next fold underneath, allowing the cardboard to follow the curve of the nosecone trailing edge. Pull tight against the nosecone and the chassis at the trailing edge of the panel, and mark the cut-off line against the inside of bottom chassis rail. The bottom front edge is the only really tricky bit. Roughly 2"-4" inside the the bottom edge of the nosecone, trim a curve down to where the bottom edge of the cardboard template folds up over the bottom L. Mark inside where the nosecone and the card board overlap. Make some shaped templates to fill the holes to the correct size and shape, and tape these in place. Remove and trim the template where marked, and check the fit one final time.
